Cryptocurrency payments startup Ripple is partnering with Madonna to raise money for orphans in the African nation of Malawi.
The legendary pop icon announced on Monday the fundraiser as a way to celebrate her 60th birthday and said that all donations to co-establish with the American screenwriter Michael Berg in 2006, to raise Malawi, a non-profit organization so that their work can be supported at home of Hope Orphanage in Malawi. In particular, the ripple matches all donations made through the drive.
According to a statement, Senior Vice President of Business Operations Eric van Miltenberg said that donations were significant.
According to a Facebook Page, the campaign started on 30th July and runs till 31 August, has increased by more than $26,000 in two days from around 540 people, about halfway to the target of approximately 60,000 dollars.
Madonna said that the fundraising program will work as “connecting my global family” with “beautiful country and children who need our help” for their birthday.
According to the International Monetary Fund, Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world, nearly 50% of the population below the poverty line.
